Beta #2

It doubled. And then some.

3,261.

That's a doubling time of around 35 hours, I think. I'm done with betas and my first ultrasound is scheduled for March 11.  The nurse said I will be 6 weeks then (I really need to get a good pregnancy app so I can figure all this stuff out).  I'm worried it will be too soon to see a heartbeat but, I'm dying to know how many are in there so I'm not going to question it.  I don't even think I can look for an OB/GYN until I know if it's multiples or not.

So now we wait again. And try not to completely freak out.

This is all so surreal. I am still in shock.

  1. Yay for a doubling beta!! We were lucky and were able to see heartbeats at 6 weeks but I know that's not always the case. I know I wanted to wait to see how many we had because it totally changed which hospital we would plan to deliver at. If its multiples you definitely would want an OB who has rights to the hospital with the highest level NICU near you. It's not that you'll need it, but good to know that information. I'm so happy for you. I can't wait to find out how many babies you have cooking in there!

    1. That's good info. I hadn't thought of that. I'll definitely keep that in mind when choosing a doctor. I live near a fairly huge and famous hospital (it's where celebrities give birth) so I'm pretty sure that's where I'll go. Traffic is too bad in LA to pick a hospital too far away!

  4. Well done, fetuses. Fetii? Fetuses. Either way, this is awesome. Even if they can't see heartbeats, they can count sacs or something, right? I dunno. Who cares? You're pregnant and it's amazing!

    1. Yeah, they'll see something. I hope they do anyway. It is amazing and doesn't at all feel real.

  6. Following on Aramis's comment, yes you will be able to count the number of gestational sacs (although one embryo could have split which means two may be sharing one sac -wait don't think about that yet!) Since you know the dating, you should be able to see a heart beat(s) at 6 weeks. I think the endo bx really did the trick!

    1. Don't think I haven't thought about the possibility of one splitting. Gah. And no kidding about the biopsy. I am a believer!

  7. Oooh this is very exciting! I don't know how many you wish for but I hope it's just right. Personally, triplets would terrify me but twins would be doable. But girl, you are definitely pregnant :)

    1. I have sort of always secretly wanted twins so I am totally ok with that. Triplets does indeed terrify me. I really can't even imagine it.

  9. Oh my goodness! So exciting! How can there not be more than one baby in there with those numbers? Crazy, I tell you! I can't wait for your u/s but I bet you are feeling that way 10 times more!! How many embryos did you transfer?

    1. We transferred 3. I have to say I will be surprised if it's only one, but it is possible (at least based on anecdotal stories I am searching for to ease my mind). I really can't even fathom anything more than twins.

  10. Woohoo!!! I'm jealous of your beta doubling... man, 35 hours, that's insane! I really think you've got twins, at the very least, going on in there. I would also be nervous about a 6-week ultrasound because I'm pretty sure you won't be able to see a heartbeat yet (I think -- don't quote me on that!), but I guess they'll be looking for the yolk sac or something? Man, I don't even know, but at least you'll be able to see some nice blobs! CONGRATS!!

    1. I think it's 6 weeks and a few days technically. I really should get a handle on how to count weeks and days of pregnancy. Hopefully, I'll get lucky and see something.
